Viktor and Rolf’s book of fairy tales, which I translated, is out this week. I was surprised to find a copy of the book on the shelves at Dussmann in Berlin on Thursday last week, but delighted at finally getting my hands on a copy of the actual book, which is perfectly pink.
And the reviews are already coming in. Here‘s one from Vogue UK. Ah, a little bit of reflected glamour can feel rather good when you’re a lonely translator!
Compelling cover, unusual to see faerie tales conceptualised in pink. Now off to find out who Viktor & Rolf are or might have been 🙂 Congratulations on the translation and the Vogue review. Fi
Thanks, Fi. Viktor & Rolf are Dutch fashion designers and the book design and colours are in keeping with their company style. A couple of the stories in the book have a fashion angle (a golden dress, talking bottles of perfume) and the story Flowerbomb has a V&R connection, as it’s the name of their house scent, but these are all new fairy tales, written and illustrated by Viktor & Rolf. A lovely book to have worked on!
